Am 6. Mai 1999 wurden in Heidelberg die diesjährigen Förderpreise der Wilhelm-Lorch-Stiftung in Höhe von 100.000 DM vergeben. Die acht Preisträger 1999 sind Anja Greger, Mönchengladbach; Kai Klopp, Aachen; Klaus-Uwe Moll, Aachen; Carola Weyers, Goch; Thilo Haas, Haslach; Ute Pfaff, Hanau; Susanne Schmidt, Wuppertal, sowie die Fachhochschule Niederrhein.
Die nach dem Gründer des Deutschen Fachverlags, Frankfurt am Main, benannte Wilhelm-Lorch-Stiftung wurde 1988 gegründet. Sie dient der Nachwuchsförderung und der Auszeichnung besonderer Leistungen des Nachwuchses in der Textilwirtschaft, einer Branche, der sich der Deutsche Fachverlag traditionell verpflichtet fühlt. Das Stiftungsvermögen liegt zur Zeit bei 2,3 Mio. DM. Insgesamt wurden bisher (jeweils inklusive 1999) 1.019.000 DM an 86 Preisträger (70 Einzelpersonen/Projektgruppen und 16 Institutionen) ausgeschüttet.
Die Förderpreise der Wilhelm-Lorch-Stiftung werden alljährlich auf dem in Heidelberg und Schwetzingen veranstalteten Forum der TextilWirtschaft vergeben.
